Time With Becca!

Hello friends of ODBD!  I hope your week is going well, and if not.... I think we have a treat for you that might make you forget your troubles for a little while!  We are spending time with our super talented Becca today, and will you ever love what she has for you!!!

Hi there blog friends! It's my honor to be able to share a "Time With" Post with you today. When I was thinking about what I wanted to do for a project I knew I wanted a different kind of birthday card and I knew I wanted to repurpose something. Well today, I've created a pocket full of birthday wishes with a handfull of sentiments, using a repurposed sewing kit from the Michaels $1.00 bins. Since it was small and compact, I decided to create a gift box as well - the final project is above.

Here is with the gift box opened and the embellished pocket Birthday Card inside.

The picture above is the Pocket Birthday card opened.

When you pull the tab, an accordian unfolds with several small sentiments.

. . . and on the other side as well.

Simple - above is opened and closed.

So, it's easy to make - I'll tell you how!

1. Start with your $1.00 sewing kit from the Michael's Bargain Bin.

2. Remove all the sewing tools and use sandpaper or a spongy fingernail file to buff up the outside of the kit. I do this step so that the paint has something to hold on to. Then paint inside and out with your desired color of spray paint - drying time was only about 35 minutes for me.

3. Using cardstock cut to 1 7/8" x 11", score every 2-1/4". Stamp in each scored segment then accordian fold. Embellish as desired.

4. Once your shell is painted, measure two pieces of cardstock for inside top and inside bottom. Mine are 2" wide by 1-7/8" tall. Glue top and bottom in place then glue the accordian fold to the bottom cardstock piece. Close and embellish as desired.

5. For gift box, cut a piece of cardstock 5" x 9". Score at 1", 4", 5" and 8". Then turn and score 1" from each long edge. Add Scor-tape as shown above. Snip where indicated for a nice fold. Remove adhesive and assemble box.

That's it - a different kind of card! Enjoy!!

Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs - Quote Collection 1, Quote Collection 2, Scripture Collection 8, Scripture Collection 9, Sentiments Collection
Paper: Mind Minds Eye - Lost and Found 2, Bazzill
Ink: Versafine - Vintage Sepia
Accessories: Michaels Sewing Kit from $1.00 bin, Prima Flowers, Recollections Pearls, Seam Binding, EK Success Scallop Punch.

Thanks so much Becca!

I am still looking for the lady who created the box full of personalised Scripture cards...was it you Becca?
I would love to make one of those as well but need to be able to add links when I do. xxx Hugs mau

This is a beautiful gift! I love Becca's work already, so I'm not surprised one little bit, but this is perfect for the friend who has everything and just needs a reminder of how wonderful she/he is! She could carry this in her purse and open it on a bad day!

So cute and inventive! I happen to have a small tin that would work well for this. I plan to make a mini album in the tin with photos for my grandson who is in the Navy. This has given even more inspiration for how this can be done. Thanks so much, Becca.
