Flashback Friday Favorites - Reason for the Season

Is it just me or are the weeks just whizzing by?  The days and months are going by so fast that Christmas will be here in no time at all!  So, it is only fitting that today's FFF is the very poignant Reason for the Season.

Santa-Jesus2-645x383

The image of Santa kneeling before baby Jesus is so touching and serene.  It calls to mind that no matter how Christians and their families celebrate Christmas, the center of this joyous of all holidays is the miraculous birth of Jesus.

So many were inspired by the image and many wonderful cards were born from it:

For those who own this set, I hope you've been re-inspired.  For those who have yet to own it, I hope you pick up this set and create lovely tributes to His birth.  And for each and everyone of you...I hope today's post shined a light in your heart to carry the spirit of Christmas not just during the holidays, but throughout the whole year!

DT Card of the Day - Chris Olsen!

We are always amazed at the details the very talented Chris Olsen incorporates onto her cards and her Ask, Seek, Knock card is no exception!

Flower_Soft_Ask_Seek_Knock

The Basic Grey Wisteria paper she used was just asking for some Flower Soft and Chris listened!  Just a few sprinkles here and there totally made the wisteria pop from the paper.  How clever of her to also create two stems of wisteria!  As mentioned earlier, Chris' attention to detail is wonderful so it was no surprise that she added pearls to her Fleur De Lis border and butterflies.

Thanks for sharing your talent on the team, Chris!  You are truly appreciated!

You can view more of her wonderful creations here:

Product Review - Scor-Pal

There is a tool out in the crafting world that does many wonderful things! It doesn't need to be plugged into an outlet, it doesn't require reading pages and pages of instructions and it's totally portable. We're talking about the fabulous SCOR-PAL!

So much can be done with just the board and bone folder. You aren't limited to just creating a professional looking crease for your cards.

You can do lattice work:

Create basic embossed score lines:

Make a gate-fold card:

You can even make boxes and lids!

Our Daily Bread designs also offers the Scor-Mat that perfectly nestles onto the Scor-Pal. One side has measurements for your cutting needs and is self-healing while the flip-side gives you a shiny work surface.

Have a crafting play date? The Scor-Pal travels easily in this handy little Scor-Tote:

You are only limited by your imagination so why not let it soar with the Scor-Pal! Once you try it you'll wonder how you even made a card without it!

An Audience with Angella!

Let's visit with Angella Crockett today!

Angie is known around the Bread Basket as one of the best chocolate chip cookie makers bar none (chocolate chip bars would be good too)! Let's find out some more about her!

Avatar_2_

How long have you been stamping, and how did you start?

My cousin's wife, Margo, became a Stampin' Up demonstrator in 2003 and asked if I would like to host a party. I had never heard of this company and even asked her to spell it!!! I didn't know the first thing about cards or scrapbooking, but as soon as I saw the catalog, I was hooked!

How long have you been on the ODBD DT?

Since December '08...only a few months, but it seems like I've known these gals for years!!!! What an awesome company...I'm so blessed!!!

How would you describe your "style"?

I'm not sure what my "style" IS, since I adapt to each project and each recipient, however, my "style" is NOT "cutesie"...that I know of!!!

What was the first stamp you ever bought?

The very first time I opened a catalog, I bought "Spring Pansy" and three SU markers...Barely Banana, Mellow Moss, and Lavender Lace. (Talk about "humble beginnings"!)

Describe the "weirdest" stamp you have.

My friend gave me one of her duplicates stamps, which says, "I love you, respect you and admire you." I can't imagine a situation for which this would be used! It's a weird stamp to use for someone you "love", and it would be REALLY weird for someone you "respect and admire"! Is it just me?!

What is your favorite medium to work with?

Ooooh....hands down, I love to color with sponge daubers and SU ink pads! If I had a video camera, I would love to do a tutorial!!

What is your favorite technique?

When I'm not coloring with sponge daubers, I LOVE to watercolor!!!
What is your favorite or most used tool? (Other than the basics: adhesive, scissors, etc.)
Hehehe....my paper piercer and mat pack!!!

What inspires you in your stamping?

E V E R Y T H I N G ! ! ! ! Mostly scenery, but anything I see, from wallpaper, to clothing, to buildings....you name it! (Ask my hubby....every time I shriek with a new idea, he says, "Woman, you're killin' me!!!" (In a loving way, of course!!!)

What is one of the top items on your stamping wish list?

More Nestabilities!!! Time is so valuable...making frames the "hard way" is much more difficult and time consuming!

What is one food you couldn't live without?

Buttah, baby!!!

Is there a song title that reflects your personality?

Twenty years ago, it was "Red-neck Girl" by the Bellamy Brothers. TODAY, it has to be Francesca Battistelli's "Free To Be Me"...my new anthem!

Do you have any friends that understand your addiction? (Other than your stamping friends that live in the computer)

Yes, my friend Melanie, but unfortunately we don't see each other enough!!! :(

Anything you'd like to tell about yourself or stamping that I haven't asked?

I used to believe that my "path" was to help people with their health, but physical health MUST be accompanied by emotional and spiritual health. Through papercrafting, I am able to inspire others while leading them to God's word....total package deal!!!

Here are two of my favorite Angie creations:

Customer Card of the Day - Peggy Finney

We have a wonderful treat for your eyes today!  Kelley loves it when her customers share their creations using ODBD stamps and she happily saw this card on Peggy Finney's blog and instantly thought of it worthy of COD!

IMG_6935

Aren't all of Peggy's details simply gorgeous?!  We love that she mixed and matched  Spellbinders dies to create a beautiful frame for the scripture from the Scripture Collection 1 set.  Her placement and variation of flowers were perfectly balanced.  We love those pearl flower centers and just a little of the doily lace border peaking out.

Thank you for creating such a beautiful card and allowing us to share it with our readers, Peggy!

Please visit her blog, Stamping Peg's Stamping Spot, and have a look around and leave her some comment love!
