Flashback Friday Favorite - Ask, Seek, Knock

Sometimes you ask God for something and He answers. It's just that simple, with no searching or knocking on any other door. Sometimes...

Then, there will be times when it SEEMS like he didn't answer your prayer. Notice I emphasized "seem". When my father-in-law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer I asked God to heal him. When he passed I felt as if my prayer went unanswered. I couldn't understand why he had to be taken away from his family. After some "searching" I remembered what my father-in-law had told me a couple of weeks before he passed away. He said "I know so many people are praying for me, but I know God needs me more up there with Him.". I knew then that he asked to be relieved of his pain, sought courage to say "I'm ready" and knocked on the gates of Heaven... and God let him in. I truly believe my father-in-law asked to be with God and his prayer was answered.

He will answer what you have asked, but it may not be in the form you had in mind because He has a different plan for you. He may lead you on a spiritual journey to search for what is best in your life.

To ask, seek and knock are the three core principles as to how we approach God in our personal prayers. We do not know what destinies our Father has outlined for us, but we do know this revelation:

"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened ... " - Matthew 7:7-11

Employee Card of the Day - Rick Holland

Oh, yes! You read that right! Rick Holland, as in Kelley Holland's husband! Who would think a burly, rugged, "manly man amongst men" that caught this with his hands:

are the same hands that created this lovely chiptile made with a selection of metallic Glimmer Mists:
I'll give our readers a few moments to let this revelation wash over them and let sink in..............

Maybe a little more time.......................................................................................................................

Did the smelling salt help you snap out of it? LOL! I think Rick and Josh have been conspiring to have men take over the stamping world!

In all seriousness, Rick is not just the supportive husband of Kelley's business, but does quite a lot when he's not working his regular day job of overseeing (taking a deep breath here) Research and Development, Technical Support and Quality Control for a chemical company that manufactures additives for the zinc plating industry. Try saying that in one breath!
He books and coordinates all the stamp shows (also does all the long hours of driving to and from the shows). After loading merchandise onto the trailer he sets up the booth at the shows and mans the register! AND, you guessed it! He unloads everything after the shows as well! When not on the road, Rick is the "Shipping Manager" who carefully and meticulously packages the ODBD orders. Talk about a hard worker! Together, Kelley and Rick make a HARD WORKING TEAM!

(If you're reading this Josh...you are included in that team as well so don't think you've been forgotten!)

The ODBD men...they never cease to amaze us!

Time with Angie

Hello everyone!  It's Tuesday and that means it's the day we spend a little time with one of our talented design team members... and today it's Angie Zublionis!  Would you just look at this beauty?  Here's what Angie has to say:

Hello!  Are y'all looking forward to Thanksgiving as much as I am?  I can't wait to spend some extra time with family, eat lots of fabulous cooking and just enjoy the good times that the holidays always bring!  I also plan on taking some time to get myself busy busy, busy and finish up on this years' Christmas cards.  Here's one of the designs that I'm working on making multiples of.  It's a 4 x 4 inch card and on the base, I stamped the gorgeous Amazing Grace repeatedly.  I stamped, watercolored and cut out the poinsettia from Blessed Christmas.  Then I stamped the sentiment and cut my layers. I added a jewel piece to the flower center, touched up the berries on the patterned paper with Christmas Red Stickles and popped up the flower and sentiment. Final touch - Gold Glimmer Mist! Just look at that sparkle! All in all, a rather quick card to make, the longest part being the cutting out of the poinsettia and it's worth it with as beautiful as it is. Thanks for stopping by today. Best wishes for a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving! :)

~Angie

Thank you so much Angie! What a beautiful card!!! Why not hop on over to Angie's blog to see more of her inspiration both in cards and photagraphy!

Flashback Friday Favorite - Quiet Waters

Quiet reflection. Doesn't the image from Quiet Waters just make you feel...free? I know it does for me. We should always take the time to reflect on our relationship with Jesus, to take the time to feed our soul with His love. With the hustle and bustle of daily life, taking precious time to "restore our souls" with Him will help center ourselves and make each and everyday peaceful.

Feeling stressed when life throws you a curve ball? Tired from a long day at work? Too much to do and too little time? I'm sure we've all felt that way, but I've found that when I look to Him for guidance all of the nuances in life just seem to fade away. Take time to reflect and allow Jesus to feed your soul.

DT Card of the Day - Sandee!

Soft, comforting, cozy. These words come to mind when I think of "quilt" and Sandee's card exudes all of them with this quilted beauty:

I love her use of the new Christmas designer papers by SEI. These papers really help pull together a wonderful color combination since they are double sided! No need to reach for another sheet...just flip them over!

Aside from Sandee's gorgeous layering of the poinsettia from the Blessed Christmas set, it was made even more spectacular with the creative way she used organza ribbon behind it. The card is clean and elegant and I'd love to get this card in the mail...you know my address, Sandee! *WINK* *WINK*

Tuesday... Time With Debi

Hello everyone!  It's Tuesday again, and that means we're going to spend some time with one of our Design Team Members!  Today, we're privileged to hear from Debi Southard, our Guest Designer for Oct. Nov. and Dec. If you are on Splitcoast Stampers much, you know her as debils, and I know you have admired her work!  So here's what she has for us today:

Hello ODBD followers!

When I have had a really busy or difficult week I love to sit down and just create a simple card.  Nothing fancy, no difficult techniques just a back to basics, clean and simple card.  Well the last couple of weeks have been those kind of weeks and the perfect thing to do on a quiet afternoon was to create a couple of super simple cards.

The first card I just wanted the verse and the gorgeous designer paper to be the center of attention.

What I used for the Glory to God card:
ODBD Christmas Verses
black and vanilla card stock
SEI designer paper
Memento black stamp pad
wide black grosgrain ribbon
cream colored button (from Grandma's button box)
hemp

The second card was created to spotlight just one shimmery poinsettia and a simple message.

What I used for the Peace on Earth card:
ODBD set: Luke 2:11
vanilla and black card stock
Memento black stamp pad
wide black grosgrain ribbon
EKSuccess scalloped edge punch
markers
Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist

stickles

Thank you so much Debi!  I love your Clean and Simple style... it really showcases the beauty of these sets!  For more inspiration, please stop by Debi's blog and leave her some love!

If you haven't done so by now, check one post down to see who won the Nov. DT Challenge "Show Us the Shimmer"!  Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed week!

Flashback Friday Favorite - God Bless America

Having celebrated Veterans Day this past Wednesday we'd like to thank all the men and women who have served in our militaries. Their bravery and sacrifice allows us to live with freedoms that many aren't privileged to have. It's wonderful timing that we flashback to the I Pledge Allegiance stamp as it rings true for every American:

With our right hand over our heart we declare "One nation, under God", not just as a formal declaration in our schools or at events but as a declaration that God resides in our heart, each beat offering a promise to uphold the promise of justice and equality for all just as our God has promised to us.

To all our military veterans, we thank and salute you...may God Bless you all!

Note: ODBD offers the USA Bundle - you get In God We Trust, God Bless America and I Pledge Allegiance with a combined savings of 10%.
