Stamping In Time Challenge(SNTODBD38)!

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Designs Stamping In Time: On Assignment Challenge(SNTODBD38)! The assignment is to use Our Daily Bread Design stamps. The challenge this rotation is to make Christmas cards.  ODBD has many beautiful Christmas sets to choose from; however, if you do not have ODBD Christmas sets specifically, see what Christmas looks you can create with other ODBD sets.  The winner this rotation is the one who makes the most Christmas cards with separate posts.  Meaning you have to have separate links for the cards to count.  It should be good fun, plus check a few Christmas cards off of your list!   We look forward to seeing what you create using ODBD stamps!

ODBD would like to thank Marlena for guest designing with us last rotation! Thanks so much Marlena!

Here are a couple of Christmas cards created by some of the ODBD designers!

Customer Card of the Day - Pearl Liu!

Hi everyone! It's Wednesday again! Time to share another gorgeous creation for ODBD Customer Card of the Day!!! This week's beautiful eye-candy belongs to Pearl Liu! Congrats, Pearl!

Pearl sure knows how to combine Our Daily Bread designs stamps with her designer papers! I have seen many perfect "marriages" like this on Pearl's blog...pure joy to see! For this gorgeous card, Pearl has combined one of the scripture verses from the new "Time" set, which was released earlier this month, with some trendy designer paper from Webster's Pages. I love the clever way she has embellished this masterpiece! Pearl is also a seasoned scrapbooker, which is evident in the perfect plan of this card!

I know you want to see more! Check out her fantastic blog, Pearl's Paperfections, to see more beautiful work like this!

Thanks once again for stopping by! Stay tuned tomorrow for a new Stamping In Time: On Assignment Challenge with Betty Wright......and don't forget about the New Releases and July Blog Hop on Friday.....can I get a Woo Hoo?! :)

Have a very blessed day!!

Techniques, Tutorials, & Tips - Sweet Willliam/Spellbinders Blossom 3 Dies

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful, blessed weekend! This week, for our Product Review post, we're giving you a little sneak peek of some of the July New Releases! Stay tuned on Friday for the full New Release post and July Blog Hop, where you will see all of the new sets in action, plus have a chance to win some!

Today I will be sharing with you some tips on how to use the Spellbinders Blossoms 3 die set with our fabulous new Sweet William stamp sets. The photo below shows all five of the cutting dies from the Blossoms 3 die cut set which will cut out all five of the Sweet William images. Each of the blossoms are gorgeous to use alone, but if you're like me, the layered 3D flower is the way to go!!!

Since the stamped images fit so closely to the edge of the die, it is not easy to "eyeball" the cutting dies over the image before cutting them out. The easiest way is to create a template for each die. For the next photo, I have already cut out square pieces of cardstock for each of the cutting dies....make sure that your pieces are quite a bit larger than your die, so that your template won't be flimsy...you'll understand this later. Please note: due to the awesome size of the Grand Calibur's cutting plates, I was able to cut out all five in one shot......yay!!!

Once you've run your cardstock through your die-cut machine, pop out the cut-out piece (save the cut-out in your scrap bin for a future project!), but leave the dies in place in the cardstock "frame"......these are now your templates.

Next, you want to create a "hinge" by placing a piece of scotch tape over the edge of one petal, on the smooth side of the die. Tape one petal only or you won't be able to open the "hinge".

The next photo shows what the "hinge" looks like when you lift the die from the cardstock....the tape holds it in place so that it can be closed perfectly again with ease.

To keep this post as short as possible, I have already heat embossed all five of the Sweet William flowers with white embossing powder and have colored them with sponge daubers and ink. The next photo shows the template being placed over the flower image to line it up for cutting.

When you have the opening of the template lined up perfectly over the image, place several pieces of repositionable scotch tape to hold the template in place over the image, so that it doesn't move during the cutting process. If you do not have repositionable scotch tape, you may want to cut your image panel larger than the template so that you can tape the edges of the papers together, instead of taping over the image.

After the template is lined up and taped in place, close the hinged die and let's get ready to cut!!

Run it through your Grand Calibur, Wizard, Cuttlebug, Big Shot, or die cut machine of choice, and here is the result.....a perfectly cut flower!!!

Since I will be layering all five of the Sweet William flowers for my sample, I thought I would give it a little extra dimension, so I cut in between each petal on each flower in order to create more flexibility for bending the petals. I love being able to create different looks just by "tweaking" here and there!

After cutting in between the petals, I sponged the newly exposed edges, which is why the back looks a bit messy. I used one layer of foam tape on the outside of each petal, but stacked two layers in the center for more lift. Once the bottom layer of the blossom is attached to the card, there will be a slight rounding effect. All of the other blossoms had one layer of foam tape.....each layer followed the shape of the lower level.

And here we have it.....the finished blossom!!!!

The two bottom layers are rounded down ( with the help of foam tape and cutting in between the petals), the center layer is even, and the top two layers are turned up a bit for a more realistic effect.

Once the blossom was finished, this is the card which was built around it!

Flashback Friday Favorites - Children of God!

Hi everyone! Happy Friday to you!!! Just a few days ago, a young couple at my church welcomed a brand new baby boy...what a blessing to all! Whether it's a new baby being born, or someone being "reborn" through Christ, it is a true blessing to add another member to the Lord's "flock"! It's God's perfect timing that this beautiful set, "Children of God" is next up for this week's Flashback Friday Favorites post! Every other Friday we revisit one of the earlier sets by Our Daily Bread designs....they may be older, but not forgotten!!

I don't know about you, but this set makes me smile! I can close my eyes and visualize Jesus laughing and playing with the little children.....makes me wish for Heaven so that I could see it in person! I love the three beautiful scripture verses and the two sentiments to support this sweet image! This set has been used for so many different occasions.....baby shower cards and gifts, christening gifts, scrapbook layouts, and even memorial gifts to show your love and support to families who have lost a baby or child.

Please enjoy the samples below which have showcased the "Children of God" set:

Aren't these samples amazing? If you'd like to see more, there are many in the ODBD Card Gallery using this set and all other sets by Our Daily Bread designs. Grab a cup of coffee and tea and get ready to cruise! While you're there, you could even start your own gallery to share your ODBD creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Stay tuned tomorrow for another fun (weekly) Shining the Light Challenge......you still have until Wednesday to play in the (bi-weekly) Stamping In Time Challenge, plus, don't forget about the (monthly) Let Your Light Shine Scrapbook Challenge!

Have a blessed weekend!!!
